Imagine my excitement when I read Louis Llovio's article today about Cartwheels & Coffee in Carytown. It's a coffee shop for parents - what more could a girl want. Kids play in supervised play areas while parents enjoy coffee. I have been waiting for a place like this.

I stumbled upon this site where moms anonymously confess whatever is on their minds. I read through some of the confessions. Some were interesting, others standard, and even more weren't really related to mommyhood, but general life confessions.

While I make no claims about running a green household or always making green decisions (I drive to work, I don't carry my own Starbucks mug, etc.), I do take opportunities to conserve when I can. And with a baby, the amount of trash is just more than I could have imagined.

An article in the New York Times references layoffs and overall payroll decreases, such as in manufacturing, as some of the reasons why the number of women working outside of the home is in decline. Low wages and undesirable employment are mentioned as well. Does this recast the mommy wars? Are women debating an issue that may not really exist? And when we debate it, are we being honest?

My co-worker just sent me a link to the most hilarious article I have read online in a while. It's a top-ten list, "20 Baby products great for traumatizing infants," that makes you realize that you actually are sane.

One of the many meetings on my schedule to attend today kicked off with some off-topic discussion about parenting. The chatter included my husband's search for Backyardigans DVDs and how amazing it is that the human body can function with so little sleep. I always slept four hours a night, right?

I have been fighting this for a while, but this morning I realized that I have succumbed to the mom purse. I am afraid that mom hair, mom shoes and mom jeans may be next. (It is possible that the mom jeans might not be a bad idea since I now have a mom body.)

I laid off caffeine while I was pregnant (OK, there was some iced tea) and breastfeeding. But once The Kid went on the bottle, I was back at Starbucks making up for lost time. How could I not? How was I supposed to keep up with life, work and motherhood without a few espresso shots to get me through day?

When I saw the headline "Cribs recalled after 4 children trapped" I called my husband as quick as I could and asked him to check our crib to see whether it's part of today's recall.
